Dogs and Snow

What is it about dogs and snow.

They just love playing in it.

 Here comes Huka.

 Gotcha!

I went out that afternoon to get more pictures of wind art, in this case the ripples the wind made in the snow.

A couple days later the snow was once more almost gone when the dogs and I went out for a walk.
When we got to this patch, they just had to have a roll.

 Oh, yea, that's the spot.

I was trying to get a good shot of their shadows here,

so called them back a couple of times.

I just love this fence post. There used to be thousands of these cedar posts around here. Cedar lasts a long time, but they are finally rotting away and being replaced with metal posts. People used to just burn them, but now they have value for art work, which is nice to see, but it makes them harder to find. This one, although crooked, is still solid.

It makes me wonder what this country looked like before the white man came along and chopped down all the cedar trees to make fences for containing livestock.

Later, when we went out to feed, the horses came running towards us.

The next day I was ready, camera in hand, when we went out, hoping to get more action shots, but the herd just ambled slowly towards us.

So, as we puttered along, me driving while Tom pitched hay off the back, I amused my self by taking pictures of my hand as it clutched the steering wheel.

Great shot of the horses! I completely relate to the shadow shots. I'd probably do the same thing you did with having the dogs run back and forth. Hate it when I miss a shot that speaks to me.

I take shadow shots too, it's fun.
Dogs find a way to have fun no matter what the circumstances are, we could learn a lot from them.

Loved the horse shot, but I like the dog shots, too!

That looks like an honest hand.

I don't know what it is about dogs and snow either, but they love it! We rarely get snow, but when we do... snow tunnels galore! They are the happiest pups around!
Gorgeous photo of your horses!!
