Two Days

Well, it all happened like expected. The wind picked up and has been howling for a couple of days now.

Yesterday, when we went out to feed, the herd was almost lost in the blowing snow.

Here they come at a leisurely pace.

We drew them down into this protected corner to feed so they would at least get a little bit of the hay before it blew away. There are cottonwoods off to the right, which slowed the wind down a little bit.

The Crazies looked awesome as usual.

Today we woke up to a changed landscape. The snow has blown into drifts and most of the ground is bare. Instead of 15 degrees like when I woke up two days ago, it was 38 degrees. Quite a difference.

Here's how it looked when we went out to feed this afternoon:
I didn't plan this, just started taking photos as the horses came to the hay, but here is Tate and Hooper in front and their mothers, Napples and Mellie behind.

 Xena Rose came thundering up.

The Beartooths at sunset. You can see how patchy the snow is on the hillside. We have drifts along the driveway, but none too deep that we couldn't drive through.

The days are getting longer. The sun didn't set until after 4:30, which means spring is coming.

What a difference a day makes. Such beautiful mountains, whatever the weather. Great pics of your nice looking herd!

What a difference a day makes! Poor Xena Rose "thundering up" - not gracefully loping? Those big horses sure do shake the ground.

Great photo taking, Susan. Love the first two! The second one looks like a painting. You are surrounded by beauty.

Those pictures are soo beautiful, and they look sooo cold :). It makes me want to put on a warm sweater and light a fire.
